Ishpeming- James H. Mead, age 70, of Ishpeming, passed away on Tuesday December 21, 2021 at his home while in the loving care of his family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

James was born in Bay City, MI on December 12, 1951, son of the late Hollis and Charlotte (O'Brian) Mead. He was a graduate of Chesaning Union High School. James proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked for General Motors for 30 years where he did just about every job you could imagine.

James was a life member of the American Legion, Marquette County Veterans Alliance where he was 2 ^nd Vice and Trustee, AmVets Post 436 in Beechwood, post 122 in Ishpeming where he was the Finance Officer, post 125 in Marquette where he was the 2 ^nd Vice Finance Officer, he was the district 7 Commander. James was a member of the oddfellows, served on the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund Board, and the Marquette County Veterans Trust. He was a member of many black powder clubs, Feeding America, St. Vincent De Paul, Salvation Army, many motorcycle clubs, was a life member of the 3 ^rd Infantry Division, the Big Bay Sports Club, Ottawa Sportsman Club, UP Bear Houndsman Association, and was an avid hunter.

One of James' greatest achievements in life was helping the Veterans.

James is survived by his wife- Sandra Mead, children- Heather Orr, Jason Mead, Jody Mead, sister- Lois (Jeff Sawvel) Mead, step-children- Joseph (Marge) Hebert, Kelly Hebert (Larry) Luokkala, Shelly (Mike) Lawry,  19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-son- Don Hebert, and great granddaughter- Ella Hebert.

Following James' wishes, cremation will take place with a celebration of life to be held in the summer of 2022. Interment will take place at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bay City, MI.
