Ishpeming - James A. Kippola, age 65, of 213 S. Second St. Ishpeming, passed away at 6:30 PM, Thursday, January 22nd, 2009 at Marquette General Hospital.

James was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on February 16, 1943, the son of the late Arthur and Julia (Ruohomaki) Kippola. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked in the parts and shipping department at the Ford Motor Company for 30 years. James enjoyed volunteering at the Salvation Army in Ishpeming, and was a member of the Finn Center in Farmington Hills. James also enjoyed motorcycling and was an avid sports fan. He was a musician and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar.

James is survived by his friend Rene of Ishpeming, two sons Jesse (Rene) Kippola of Walled Lake, MI, Caleb Kippola of Plymouth, MI and grandchildren: Quenten and Audrey. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Karen Knuass.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 1:00PM at the Salvation Army in Ishpeming, with Capt. Deb Jolly officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives from noon until the time of services. A luncheon will follow the memorial service. Inurnment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery at a later date.
