Marquette, MI- James William Kellow, age 82, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Michigan Veterans Home D.J. Jacobetti where he has been a resident since 2005.
James was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on September 12, 1942, a son of the late Emily Alvina (Vizena) and Harold Kellow. He attended Ishpeming High School before entering the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of the Bay of Pigs conflict during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Jim was also a member of the Michigan National Guard in Ishpeming for many years.
Jim worked as a welder for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company, retiring in 1993. He belonged to local bowling and cribbage leagues and was a volunteer for the Republic Township Fire and Ambulance Services. Some of Jim's hobbies include woodworking, bowling, camping, hunting, and outdoor adventures.
Jim is survived by his children: James (Elizabeth Kirven) Kellow, Carla (Anthony) Kellow-Cvetkovich, Bradley (Mary Ellen) Kellow, Lindsey (Michael) Kellow-Davis, and Alyssa (Daniel) Kellow- Hendrickson, grandchildren; Stephen (Alyssa) Clare, Thomas (Julia) Clare, Morgan Kellow, Adam Kellow, James Michael Davis, Daniel James Hendrickson, great grandchildren; Stephen M. Clare Jr, a sister Julie Boswell, brothers; Harold Joseph (Carol) Kellow and Steven (Judy) Kellow.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; Harold and Emily Kellow an infant son Nikolas Kellow, brother-in-law Chuck Boswell.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at the Ishpeming Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the U.S. Navy and the American Legion Greenwood Post 114.
A luncheon will follow at the Ishpeming Township Hall.
