Obituary

CHAMPION TOWNSHIP, MI – The family of James “Jimmy” Patrick Hosey, is saddened to announce his passing at his home on Friday, July 24, 2026 at the age of 63. He was born May 25, 1963 in London England, to Joseph and JoAnn (Eliassen) Hosey.

After graduating from Rudyard High School, Class of 1981, Jimmy served in the U.S. Navy. A longtime resident of the Champion/Republic area, Jimmy started his own company, Quality Ceramic Tile Installation. It was his labor of love.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette (Budds); his parents, Joseph and JoAnn Hosey; sister, Michelle Hosey; and infant twin brother, John Michael. Jimmy leaves an immediate family consisting of five step-children and a number of grandchildren, all of whom he loved and considered his own. He is survived by his sisters, Marcee (Jim) Kargol, and Melissa (Brad) Gustafson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

The early days found Jimmy doing his most creative work as a home remodeler, tile layer, fishing, night time campfires, gardening and cooking in the kitchen. Our parents loved his signature dish of shrimp scampi and he loved our mom’s apple cake. He will be remembered for his expert eye for detail and hands that made beautiful things. He will be dearly missed as a child of God and as the sensitive, hurting person that he was.

A private Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in August.

Memorial contributions in Jimmy’s honor may be made to an organization of your choice.
