Republic, MI - James C. Hall "Jim", age 71, of 8735 Hawks Dr. Republic, MI, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at UP Health System Marquette, while in the loving care of family and close friends.

Jim was born in Mio, MI on February 19, 1952, a son of the late Margaret (Cleveland) Tobler and James Hall. Jim worked as a mechanic for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co., before retiring after 30 years with the company. He also worked at the Pinecrest Resort in Republic for many years.

Jim and his wife, Sally, enjoyed many summers camping with their children, nieces, and nephews at Norway Lake. He was a gifted mechanic and known as a "Jack of all Trades." Jim could fix anything that was broken. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America, Republic Historical Society, and a former member of the Republic Lions Club. He was a volunteer for the Republic Historical Society and served as a volunteer EMT in Republic for several years. Jim genuinely loved to tinker with anything and building various inventions he would dream up.

Survivors include his children - Tracy (Jim) Hofer of Aberdeen, SD, Shannon (Eric) Wixtrom of Hazel Green, AL, Bryan (Melissa) Laurila of Iron Mountain, MI, Kimberley (Rusty) Rose of Roselle, IL, Bradley (Sue) of Carol Stream, IL, two sisters, Lynn Huling of Bourbonnais, IL and Cari Bohto of Crystal Falls, two brothers, Bill (Rose) Hall of Lapeer, MI and Brian Hall of Iron Mountain, MI, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a dear friend Ilona Andersen of Negaunee, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife Sally D. Hall in 2011, sons, David Hall and Mark Laurila, and grandson Harold Wixtrom.

Cremation will take place with a private interment to be held at a later date at the Republic Cemetery.
