James P. Becotte, age 50, longtime area resident, passed away on Thursday January 22, 2026 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton where he had been a resident for the past several months.

James was born in Marquette on January 5, 1976, son of Thomas Becotte, and the late Karen (Larson) Becotte. He grew up in the Gwinn area graduating from Gwinn High School with the class of 1994. Following graduation James attended college in Utah and enjoyed travelling around the country before he settled back in the Ishpeming area. James worked at Pathways for 8 years as an Activities Aid. He enjoyed going to church, spending time in the outdoors, bike riding, basketball, golf, four-wheeling, and listening to music, especially his favorite band Nirvana.

James is survived by his father: Thomas (Marie) Becotte of Anoka, MN, sister: Lynette Left of Jacksonville Beach, FL, brother: Bob (Melissa) Becotte of Gladstone, MI, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother: Karen (Larson) Becotte, and sister: Denise Becotte.

Following James’ wishes, cremation will take place with a celebration of his life to be held in the summer.
