Ishpeming Twp- Jackie A. LaVacque, age 82 of 145 N. Marigold St. Ishpeming Twp, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Bell Hospital in Ishpeming.

Jackie was born April 16, 1928 in Bates Twp., MI the daughter of the late James and Agnes (Goulette) Franzene. She attended the Bates School thru the eighth grade, and then attended the Iron River High School, graduating in 1946. Jackie married Kenneth A. LaVacque in 1946, and they resided in Bates Twp. until 1967 when they moved to the Milwaukee, WI area. In 1994 they returned to the Upper Peninsula and resided in Ishpeming since that time.

While Jackie lived in the Iron River area she was active in the Home Extension program. She enjoyed taking care of her many house plants along with flower gardening. Jackie could often be found passing time by playing solitaire, doing crossword puzzles, or watching soap operas; her favorite was Young and Restless. Sewing and doing embroidery work where also hobbies of hers.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years Kenneth A. LaVacque of Ishpeming, a daughter Patti (Alonzo) Feldbauer of Ishpeming, a son Larry (Sally) LaVacque of Genoa City, WI, a sister Betty (Harry) Smith of Gaastra, 4 grandchildren – Pam St.Aubin of Ishpeming, Tammy (Richard) Kangas of Negaunee, David LaVacque of Mesa, AZ, and Kaelyn LaVacque of Sebastian, FL, 2 great grand children Mary and Alissa Stanaway, sister-in-law Bev Przybylski of St. Petersburg, FL, Brothers-in-law – Bob (Donna) LaVacque of Amasa and Marv (Sue) LaVacque of Grand Junction, CO, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jackie was preceded in death by 2 sisters - Ramona Barnes and Barbara Hopper and her brother and sister-in-law – Ron and Opal Franzene.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00 until the time of funeral services at 3:00pm on Thursday April 22, 2010 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Tooman to officiate. Interment will take place at the Bates Twp. Cemetery.
