Ishpeming – Irene M. Wright, age 94, of 230 Marble St., Ishpeming passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at UP Health System Marquette where she had been a patient since Monday.

Irene was born October 14, 1921 in Princeton, MI the daughter of Cecilia (Bekkala) and Matt Sahi. She grew up in Gwinn and was a graduate of the Gwinn High School, Class of 1939. She moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1945 having married Raymond Wright who had returned from World War II. Irene returned to the Ishpeming area in the mid-1990's and lived here since. She will be remembered as a great homemaker and caretaker of her family. She was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church.

Irene is survived by her son George (Audrey) Wright of Marquette, a sister Helen Hakala of Pleasant Prairie, WI, 9 grandchildren – Richard (Becky) Wright, George (Beth) Wright, Tommy (Jaclyn) Wright, Michael Wright, Laura (Jon) Teichman, Jessica Wright (Andrew Hackett), Amanda (James) Peterson, Billy Fountain and Sean Farrell, 21 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of brothers and sisters in faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Wright, two sons Richard and Thomas Wright, mother Cecilia Maki, father Matt Sahi, daughter-in-law Louise Wright., brother and sister-in-law George and Joanne Sahi, and an infant great granddaughter Aiela Irene Conklin.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am until 12:00noon on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, Co. Rd. 492, Negaunee. Funeral services will follow at 12:00noon at the church with Dale Kemp to officiate. Interment will take place at the Gwinn Cemetery.
