Ishpeming- Ida Mae Rochon, age 80 passed away on Monday, December 26 ,2016 while in the loving care of her family, and UP Home Health & Hospice at Teal Lake Senior Living Community in Negaunee where she has resided for the past year.
Ida was born on July 3, 1936 in Humboldt Twp to the Harry & Myrtle Rhea (Beatty) Snell. Ida married Clarence "Pat" Rochon on November 1, 1952. Ida was a very social person, who loved playing Bingo, word search puzzles and jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed crocheting.
Ida is survived by 4 sisters: Shirley (Carl) Dehner, Myrtle Hautamaki, Marcelline Treloar, all of Ishpeming and Nancy (Anthony) Misale of Illinois, 3 brothers: William (Barbara) Snell, Joseph (Memory) Snell and Larry Snell all of Ishpeming along with numerous nieces & nephews. When her sister Carol died in 1987, she became a second mother to Carol's children: Bonnie Howe, Leon (Susie) Rochon Jr, Sarah Smith and Donna (Dale) Aho, and a grandmother to their children: Stacey (Wayne) Filizetti, Jason (Jill Poirier) Aho, Jennifer Niehaus, Cory (Kathryn) Smith, Lindsey Howe, and Adam Aho. Ida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pat whom she was married to for 60 years, a brother John Harry Snell, 4 sisters: Carol Rochon, Clara Dube, Ruby Tuttila, and Lois Jandreau, brothers-in-law: Leon Rochon Sr. and Richard Hautamaki.
Ida's family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am-11:00 am on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Wesley United Methodist Church where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, with Rev. Albert Barchue to officiate. Inurnment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in the Spring.
A luncheon will follow the service.
The family would like to thank UP Home Health & Hospice, Teal Lake Senior Living for the wonderful and compassionate care Aunt Ida received. We would also like to thank Teal Lake Senior Living for treating Aunt Ida like a queen.
