Round Rock, Texas- Helen E. Swanson, age 85, former Ishpeming, MI, Sylvan Lake, MI & Franklin, TN resident, passed peacefully Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Altenheim Lighthouse Hospice Center in Round Rock, TX.

Helen was born November 15, 1926 in Ishpeming to John A. & Fannie L. (Kerkela) Swanson. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1944, and attended Northern Michigan University and later the University of Michigan where she received her Masters Degree in Education. Helen taught High School Business in Stephenson, MI and High School Business Administration at Pontiac Northern High School for 30 years.

Helen was a world traveler, never met a stranger, enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid golfer. She was a former member of the Wawonowin Country Club, where she was past club champion 7 years. Helen belonged to the Business Professional Women's Group in Pontiac, MI and the Red Hat Society in Franklin, TN.

Helen is survived by her niece Ann (Doug) Nichols of Austin, TX and a great nephew Malachi. Helen was preceded in death by her parents John & Fannie Swanson and her identical twin sister Dorothy Wornick.

A Graveside service for Helen will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Ishpeming Cemetery with Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate.
