Obituary

Ishpeming – Helen C. Ring, age 90, formerly of 633 Michigan St., Ishpeming passed away on Thursday August 7, 2008, with her family by her side, at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had resided since May of 2007.


Helen was born April 8, 1918 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel (Anderson) Larson. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1936 and was a lifelong area resident. Helen was a homemaker and worked as a hall monitor at the Ishpeming High School for evening activities and events. She also volunteered for many years with the Auxiliary at the Bell Memorial Hospital.

Love of family was always first in Helen's life. She enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader. Helen was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church where she had been active with the United Methodist Women (UMW), and was a member of the Martha Ruth Circle. Helen was also a lifetime member of the Ishpeming Elks Lodge.


Survivors include a daughter Sharon (Lester) Hainsey of Ishpeming, 3 sons – Stuart (Christine) Ring of Ishpeming, David (Sheryl) Ring of Ishpeming and Scott (Christine) Ring of Negaunee, a daughter-in-law – Mary Ring of Bradenton, FL 3 sisters – Jeanne (Paul) Williams of Wayne, Eunice (Robert) Tonkin of L'Anse and Joanne (Arnold) Conn of Lansing, Grandchildren – Amy Hainsey, Eric Hainsey, Jason (Michelle) Ring, Jeremy (Lisa) Ring, Rebecca Ring, Jonathan Chiri, Renee Roscoe, Denise (Doug) Bucher, Cory (Debbie) Hocking, and Tom Hocking. Great Grandchildren – Taylor, Autumn, Chandler, Rylee, Morgan, Jaide and Brock, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Creighton Ring in 1968, and a son Stephen Ring in 1990.


The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00am until 11:00am on Monday August 11, 2008 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday at the Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Lindenberg to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the services in the church fellowship hall.


Pallbearers will be Helen's grandchildren.
