Ishpeming – Helen M. Nardi, age 74 of 575 Duncan Ave., Ishpeming passed away on Tuesday April 27, 2010 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming, where she had resided for the past 2½ weeks.
Helen was born November 9, 1935 to Eugene & Lucille (Grant) Soucy in Marquette. She graduated from Bishop Baraga High School in 1953. Helen married Sal "Sam" Nardi on October 1, 1955 at St. Peter's Cathedral in Marquette, and they adopted one son Vincent. Helen retired from Wells Fargo after over 30 years in banking employed mainly as a teller.
Helen was very active in St. Joseph's Catholic Church having served on the finance committee for a number of years. Helen loved to entertain family and friends with her excellent baking and cooking. Helen and Sam enjoyed wintering in Fort Myer's, Florida for the last sixteen years. Helen's family and especially her son and granddaughters were special to her. Helen also enjoyed celebrating her heritage on St. Patrick's Day.
Helen is survived by her husband Salvatore "Sam" Nardi, a son Vincent Nardi of De Pere, WI, granddaughters: Elizabeth and Jami Nardi, sisters: Carol Craze of Port Huron, MI and Mary (Jim) Parent of Norway, MI, brother in laws John Nardi and Philip (Audrey) Nardi of Ishpeming, sister in laws Rose (Michael) Victor of Homosassa, FL and Marilyn Nardi of Ishpeming along with numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Lucille and Eugene Soucy, a sister Lucille Peterson and brothers Robert and Lawrence Soucy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00AM Friday, April 30, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. James Challancin officiating. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Friends may call at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.
