Obituary
Ishpeming – Helen S. "Sis" Lawson, age 86, 113 E. Euclid St., Ishpeming, passed away at 1:00am on Friday, January 2, 2015 in the loving arms of her daughter at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she had been a resident since April of 2008.
Helen was born to Helen (Locher) and Leslie Sundblad on June 3, 1928 in Ishpeming, MI. She worked as an R.N. for 40 years after graduating from Augustana School of Nursing. Helen was a compassionate, kind and caring person and a beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
Helen is survived by her husband James "Roxie" Lawson of Ishpeming, daughters – Leslie Lawson of Washington, D.C., Cindy Lawson of Ishpeming, and Roxanne (Mike) Palinski of Levelgreen, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren – Kate (Chris) Hughes, Emma Palinski and Max Palinski and great-grandchildren – Adeline and Julian Hughes with one more due in the spring. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ann Kauppila and brothers – Raymond, Stuart, William, Leslie and Robert.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:30pm – 2:30pm on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Ishpeming. Memorial services will follow at 2:30pm on Wednesday at the Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ronald A. Fike to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A coffee social will follow in the church hall where sweets will be served.
The family wishes to thank MCMCF for the overwhelming love and support they have shown for so many years. In particular, they would like to commend the 100 wing for the gentle, loving, outstanding care they provided for Helen. You will be treasured in our hearts forever. An extra special thank you to Dr. Catherine Kroll for her wisdom, knowledge and caring ways.
