Helen A. Koski

Ishpeming- Helen Astrid Koski, age 85 formerly of 175 Prospect Ave Ishpeming, passed away Monday, March 26, 2007 at the Mather Nursing Center where she been a resident for 1 week. Helen was a resident at Warner Creek Assisted Living in Palmer for the past 14 months.

Helen was born February 27, 1922 in Ishpeming to Frank and Amanda (Holseinus) Niemi. Helen was a life long area resident. She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church and a former member of TOPS of Ishpeming and Negaunee. Helen was a devoted wife to her husband Tauno, a wonderful mother who raised 5 children and a loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her husband Tauno, whom she married April 25, 1942, 4 children: Sharon (Alvin) Etelamaki of Stephenson, MI, David (Barbara) Koski of Negaunee, Bonnie (Don) Powrozek of Cedar River, MI and Janice Koski of Ishpeming, a daughter in law Shirley Koski of Negaunee, 9 grandchildren: Tim (Lori) Etelamaki, Steven (Kathy) Etelamaki, Dennis (Stephanie) Koski Jr., Corey (Nikki) Koski, Becky (Steve) Juchemich, Dawn Koski, Samantha (Allan) Mathie, Kristen (Charles) Marcotte Jr and Jennifer Powrozek, 15 grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, a son Dennis Koski, 4 sisters: Aili Lindberg, Mary DeCaire, Aunie Potila and Irene Weiland and 2 brothers: Arvid Niemi and Raymond Niemi.

A memorial service will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating.

Friends may call the Bethel Lutheran Church on Saturday from 10:00a.m. until the time of service.
