Ishpeming – Helen Josephine Nardi, age 89, formerly of 314 W. Division St. Ishpeming passed away on Friday March 9, 2007 at the Bell Memorial Hospital in Ishpeming. She had resided at the Mather Nursing Center for the past four months.


Helen was born November 18, 1917 in Ishpeming to the late Dominic and Rose (Nardi) Nardi. She attended the Ishpeming Schools. Helen had worked at the J.J. Newberry store in Ishpeming as a clerk at the Soda Fountain prior to being employed at the H.W. Gossard Co. as a seamstress where she worked for nearly 20 years. She was a lifelong area resident and a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Helen is survived by 2 sisters: Rose Tasson of Ishpeming and Virginia of Chicago, IL; a brother Joseph of Chicago; special nephews - Francis Tasson and George LaBeau both of Ishpeming along with several other nieces & nephews. Helen was preceded in death by 2 sisters - Stella Chapman and Grace LaBeau.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00a.m. Monday, March 12, 2007 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Msgr Peter Oberto officiating. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to St. Johns Catholic Church Memorial Fund.
