Ishpeming- Heidi LeAnn Schwan, 39, Ishpeming resident, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019 at UP Health System Marquette following a brief illness.
Heidi was born on Highway 83 in a snowstorm in Bismarck, North Dakota on November 28, 1979, a daughter of Sue Ann (Leach) Schwan, and Lee Fred Schwan.
Heidi graduated from Westwood High School, class of 1998, attended NMU, and received her Heavy Equipment Operators license in Escanaba. She was currently working as an assistant manager for Teal Lake Pizzeria.
Heidi enjoyed living on the Dead River Basin where gardening was her favorite pastime. Heidi also was an artist, she enjoyed drawing and her many tattoos. She will be missed by her dog Meekia.
Heidi is survived by a daughter, Maressa LaJoie, of Sault Ste Marie, MI; her mother Sue Schwan of Kincheloe, her father Lee (Rosemary) Schwan of Minneapolis, MN, fiancé Craig Raisanen of Ishpeming, 2 sisters, Becky Schwan, of Negaunee, and Toni (Mark) Hughes, of Trapper Creek, AK; 3 brothers, Jeffrey (Heidi) Carlson, of Harris, MI, Fred Schwan, of Anchorage, AK; Lee (Ashley) Kica-Johnson, of Omaha, NE, an uncle Raymond Leach of Rock, 2 aunts Marlene Clausen of Rock, and Marcy Bune of Las Vegas, NV and her best friend Trecia Nickerson along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Heidi was preceded in death by her grandparents and special family friend Scott Gauthier.
A Celebration of Heidi's life will be held from 1:00 - 5:00 pm on Sunday October 6, 2019 at the Tilden Township Hall 3145 Co. Rd. PG Ishpeming (National Mine) with a potluck. Honoring Heidi's spiritual side a Native American drumming ceremony and a time to share stories will start a 2:00 pm.
