Ishpeming – Hazel G. Warner, age 89, longtime Ishpeming and Negaunee resident passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming Twp. Where she had resided since June of this year.
Hazel was born March 6, 1925 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late Arthur and Gertrude (Peterson) Hebert. She was raised in Ishpeming and was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1943. She had worked locally as a sales clerk at the JC Penney Store and as an office clerk for Ernie Piirto (Metropolitan Life Ins. Co.) and also out of this area in Kansas City in the airline industry and in California. She had resided in California for nearly 25 years, returning to this area in 1998.
Hazel was a member of the Mission Covenant Church in Ishpeming, where she was an advocate of the birthday club for church members. She loved dogs and enjoyed knitting, especially dog sweaters along with dish cloths and sweaters, along with building jig-saw puzzle's.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Johanna Richardson of Cerritos CA, step-son, Richard Warner of OR, special friends - Alice Mutkala of Negaunee, Deb Rapp of Negaunee and Ann Archibald of Marquette, along with several cousins and her canine friend Mittsi. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Clement Warner in 1986, her parents and her step-mother Elna "Olive" Hebert.
Family and friends are invited to the Mission Covenant Church from 2:30-3:30pm on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014 where a memorial service will be held at 3:30pm on Thursday with the Rev. Karen Hinz to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow in the church hall.
