Champion – Harry "Tom" Prisk, age 79 of 5160 Co Rd. AAJ, Champion passed away on Sunday October 15, 2017 at his home in Champion while in the loving care of his family and the Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.
Harry was born June 16, 1938 in Berkley, MI the son of the late Henry and Alice (Ayling) Prisk. The family moved to Ohio and then LaSalle, MI prior to coming to Champion. He was a graduate of the Champion High School, Class of 1956. He then served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1960, and while in the service he married Judy A. Mentel. Harry returned to Champion for a few years, moving for work to Evart, MI where he worked for Evart Products from 1962-1964, and the to Hastings, MI where he worked for E.W. Bliss Co. from 1964-1975. Harry again returned to Champion in 1975, and worked as a contractor and for several years owned and operated ST Contracting.
Following his retirement he loved to pass his time in the winters plowing snow for local residents. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and Nascar to name a few. In his younger years he loved modifying engines, drag-racing his 1970 Road-Runner, and spending some time golfing. He truly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years Judy Prisk of Champion, 2 sons – Thomas J. (Theresa) Prisk of Michigamme and Dan A. (Robin) Prisk of Rockingham, NC, a sister Virginia Nelson, 5 brothers – Doug Yantz, William "Butch" (Joanne) Prisk, Harold "Lee" Prisk, David "Rusty" (Grace) Prisk and Robert "Bobby" (Jeannie) Prisk, 5 grandchildren – Aaron, Corey, Kristyn, Courtney and Catrina, 12 great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Jane and a brother Jack.
Private graveside services with Military Honors accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #380 will be held at the Champion Cemetery with the Rev. D. Michael Carriere to officiate.
