Negaunee- Harry Vivian, age 66 of 213 E. Main St, Negaunee, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Harry was born in Laurium, MI on May 30, 1941 to Harry & Edith (Manger) Vivian. He graduated from Calumet High School in 1960 and served 2 years in the US Navy aboard the USS John King. After working for O.K. Auto for over 30 years he worked for Interstate Welding, then the Negaunee Public Schools.
Harry is survived by his wife, Ellen (Welsh) Vivian, who he married on September 4, 1965, 3 children David (Kathleen) Vivian of East Troy, WI, Daniel (Hope) Vivian of Rockford, MI and Michelle (Robert) Lammi of Negaunee, grandchildren: Sarah and Heather Vivian, Eric, Adam, Logan and Kyle Vivian, Katelyn and Rebecca Lammi, 2 sisters: Gail (Don) Frantti of Bete Gris, MI and Anne (Steve) Schram of Washburn, WI, mother-in-law Dolly Welsh of Negaunee, brother-in-law Mike (Gail) Welsh of Wyoming, MI, and his step father Bill Clark of Marquette and family, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Harry was preceded in death by his father Harry and mother Edith Clark, an infant brother John, father-in-law Jack Welsh and sister-in-law May Kay Welsh.
Harry was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. He enjoyed spending time outdoors exploring the back roads of the Upper Peninsula and passed on the love of being outside to all his children. All who knew him witnessed his strong work ethic, a trait that defined his character. His wife and family were his pride and joy and he loved the company of his grandchildren. Harry will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00pm on Friday, March 28, 2008 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Negaunee with the Rev. Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. Burial will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
Family and Friends may call St. Paul's Catholic Church on Friday from 2:00pm until the time of service at 4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marquette County Humane Society or the Activities Fund at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in memory of Harry Vivian.
