Negaunee- Gwendolyn Marie Swan, age 74, of 98 Croix St. Negaunee, and former Ishpeming resident passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020 at her residence.

Gwendolyn was born in Troupe, Texas on December 30, 1945, a daughter of the late Jesse and Gracie M. (Carlile) Dowdy.

Gwen worked at Sam's Club and Walmart for 24 ½ years, retiring from the Marquette Walmart Store in 2017.  She was known as "Mom" to many of her co-workers and customers. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Ishpeming.

Gwen is survived by 3 children: Trina (Sam) Johnson of Ishpeming, Lorin (Jennifer) Swan of Aubrey, TX and Ayshea Fraser of Brantford, Ontario, Canada, 4 grandchildren: Bria (Aaron) Isaacson, Abby Johnson, Stephan Johnson, and Bethany Swan, 2 brothers: Buck Dowdy and Allen (Pat) Dowdy both of Texas and several nieces and nephews.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Gracie Dowdy, a sister, Janet Bobbit, and a brother Lonnie Dowdy.

Honoring Gwen's wishes and current restrictions concerning COVID-19 a private family service will be held.
