ISHPEMING, MI - Gus Jandreau, 65, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday evening, August 12, 2026, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. With his family by his side, he was surrounded with love.

Gus was born on September 6, 1960, at Bell Memorial Hospital to Donald and Dolly (Steede) Hebert. Throughout his life, he built a family that became his greatest source of pride and joy.

Gus was a retired firefighter from the Republic Fire Department. Serving his community was something he was proud of, and his years as a firefighter reflected the strength, courage, and willingness to help others that he carried throughout his life.

Gus was happiest outdoors. He loved fishing, camping, tinkering in the garage, and simply sitting on the porch making memories with the people he loved. Gus would say his family was his greatest accomplishment, and he leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to keep his spirit close.

Welcoming Gus on the other side are his parents; sisters, Connie Ingison and Donna Eliassen; brothers, Larry Jandreau and Dennis Jandreau.

He is survived by his loving wife, Valerie Jandreau, and their children: Scott (Melissa) Rodda, Melissa (Zackary) Carlson, Tabitha (Juan) Mullinax, Samantha (Ben) Maki, Christian (Allan) Barry, Darren (Erica) Mullinax, Lisa Jandreau (Kyle Wooden), and Leo (Amanda) Mullinax, Tia Alquaree; brother Myron (Mary) Jandreau, sister Denine Havranek, along with his many beloved grandchildren.

Though his time with us was far too short, the love he gave his family will remain long after. Gus spent his final moments exactly where he belonged—at home, surrounded by the people he loved.

His memory will live on in every fishing trip, every campfire, every Sunday dinner, and in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to call him husband, Dad, brother, uncle, Papa, and friend.

A funeral service will take place at Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Monday, August 17, 2026. With visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and going until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served throughout.
