National Mine- Gregory "Goober" LeClair age 66, National Mine resident passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.

Gregory was born November 11, 1951 in Marquette to Ralph and Marjorie (Sleeman) LeClair. Greg graduated from National Mine High School and served in the US Army. He served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Goober worked 30 years for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company, he retired in 2003 as a heavy equipment operator from the Tilden Mine.

Goober was a member of the Am Vets, Ishpeming V.F.W. Post #4573, the Tilden Club and Wawonowin Country Club where he enjoyed golfing. Goober was a gun collector and enjoyed tinkering with cars in his garage. Goober will be missed not only by his family, but by many good friends.

Goober is survived by a son David (Jessica) LeClair, 2 brothers: Steven (Joan) LeClair, and Tom Laitinen, a sister Mary Ellen (Casey) Smith, 4 grandchildren: Hunter and Tara LeClair, Ryan and Jason Dunquist, step brothers Duane, and Doug (Pat) Potila all of Ishpeming, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Goober was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sandy, brothers Mark and Gary LeClair, a sister Carol Leathom and step brothers: Dale and Dennis Potila.

Goober's family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00-6:00pm on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home with Military Honors accorded at 6:00pm by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 380.
