Ishpeming - Glenn Edward "Bunna" Pohlman passed away August 11th, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans at the age of 94.
Glenn was born in Ishpeming to Charles and Goldie Pohlman on July 1, 1921. He was in the Army during WWII where he served in the European theater with the 391st anti aircraft battalion, where he received the purple heart. The rest of his working years were spent as a iron ore miner. He worked at several mines and retired when the Mather B closed down in 1979. Glenn was with the last group of miners when they cut the cable to the Mather B. Glenn was proud (and rightly so) of his Swedish heritage. Some of his best times were spent in the woods at camp, hunting, and fishing, playing pool at the Ishpeming VFW and playing his beloved cribbage and smear with his family and friends.
Glenn is survived by his children - Glenda Green, Donna Steve, Gloria Hanson, William Roy Pohlman (Raymona), Jeffrey Pohlman (Angel), his brother Clyde Pohlman and grandchildren Tammy Green, Kim Koski (Fred), Brandy Fruend (Jeff), Matt Pohlman, Olivia Hanson, Amanda Pohlman, Emily Hanson, Jeffrey Pohlman Jr., as well as great grandchildren Bradley Koski, Tyler Koski, Madison Pohlman, Riley Fruend and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters, his son Donald "Scotty" Pohlman, granddaughter Billie Jo Walsh and son-in- law Gene Green.
Visitation will be held at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home on Friday August 14, 2015 from 10:00am until 12:00noon with funeral services to follow at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Warren Geier to officiate. Internment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 380. All are welcome to attend.
The family appreciates greatly the compassionate care he received at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans. The family is comforted that they were all able to be with him in his final days where he was able to enjoy a ride out to camp and a marathon game of smear.
