Ishpeming- Glenn S. Oja, age 58 of 422 Marquette St. Ishpeming, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010 at his home under the care of his family and Lake Superior Hospice.

Glenn was born June 17, 1952 in Ishpeming to Kenneth & Lillian (Schmeltz) Oja. He graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1970. Glenn served 4 years in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked for Cleveland Cliffs Mining Company for 30 years retiring in 2004 as a mechanic. Glenn was a wonderful caregiver to his father. He enjoyed taking daily walks with his dog "Yooper".

Glenn is survived by his wife Roxanne, his father Kenneth Oja of Ishpeming, 2 children: Devon (Emil) Walsh of North Carolina & Jeremy Oja of Norway, MI, a sister Suzanne (Peter ) Valenti of New York, a brother Douglas (Bonnie) Oja of Romeo, MI, 2 grandchildren: Justice and Leo Walsh, an aunt Gertrude Chapman of Ishpeming, step children: Nicholas (Terra) Willig, Jamie Willig, Alannah Arseneault, Jacob Lee, Caitlyn Lee, Jason (Veronica) Nault, step grandchildren Caitlyn, Emily, Nicholas Jr., Christian, Chandler and Claire, along with nieces, nephews and cousins. Glenn was preceded in death by his mother Lillian and his wife Fay "Darlene" Oja.

A memorial service will be held 11:00am Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Friends may call the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home on Thursday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.

Military Honors will be conduct by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 380 at the conclusion of the service.

A luncheon will be held at Bethel Lutheran Church following the service.
