REPUBLIC, MI – Glenn Henry Adams Sr., age 89, of Republic, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 3, 2026, while in the comforting care of his family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Glenn was born October 10, 1936, to Henry and Melba (Nyman) Adams and was a lifelong resident of Republic, growing up at Chief Lake and eventually building the home he would live in for the rest of his life there in 1958. He attended Republic schools and later Michigan State University. Following college, Glenn returned home to Republic to help on the family farm, beginning a life that would remain deeply rooted in his community and the people he loved.

Music was one of the greatest parts of Glenn’s life. He began playing guitar when he was just four years old, and his natural musical talent became something he shared generously with others throughout his life. For Glenn, music was never simply something he played—it was a way to connect with people and bring them joy.

Over the years, Glenn played for countless people and created memories that will live on through those who heard him. He was a member of the Da Yoopers and continued sharing his love of music well into his later years. When playing guitar became more difficult, Glenn simply found another way to continue doing what he loved, switching to the keyboard. Every Tuesday, he could be found playing keyboard in Michigamme. His music became a familiar and meaningful part of many people’s lives. If there was one word that best described Glenn, it was a people pleaser. He genuinely wanted to make people happy, and he found a wonderful way to do that through his music.

Glenn worked hard throughout his life. In his younger years, he worked in logging and for an oil company before beginning his career with CCI in 1964. He remained there for 31 years before retiring in 1995.

Even after retirement, Glenn was never one to sit still. He loved working outside and keeping busy, always finding something to work on. He enjoyed riding horses, working on heavy machinery and spending time outdoors. He was known for being strong-willed and, at times, quite stubborn, preferring to do things his way. That determination was simply part of who Glenn was.

In recent years, one of his favorite pastimes was watching the birds outside his windows. He took great care to make sure his feeders were always full, enjoying the simple pleasure of watching the birds come and go.

Glenn was also deeply committed to his community. He was a member of the Lions Club for 45 years and served as President for six of those years. He will be remembered not only for his incredible musical talent, but for the happiness he brought to others through that talent.

Glenn is survived by his extensive and beloved family, along with his countless number of friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Melba Adams; his wives, Kristen, Lorraine and Barbara; and all of his favorite four-legged fur babies he had through the years.

A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held at the Republic EMS Hall on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pastor Alex Ross will hold a brief remembrance service at 1:00 p.m. to begin the celebration of life. Friends and family are welcome to bring a dish to pass and join together in remembering Glenn.

Interment will take place in the Republic Township Cemetery.
