Ishpeming- Gladys Caroll Coron age 86 passed away on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she had resided since October. She was surrounded by loved ones, and the caring staff at MCMCF.
Gladys was born in Marquette to Frank and Lillian (Wahoskie) Lindgren on January 5th 1924. She resided for most of her life in Ishpeming and graduated from IHS in 1941.
On July 18th, 1950, she married Joseph and together they spent 15 loving years until he passed away in 1965.
Gladys worked as the office manager for her brother-in-law, Ron Kielinen for several years until 1976 when she began as a data processor for CCI, retiring in 1988.
Gladys was a good and caring friend to many. She loved going out for lunches with her friends and also enjoyed her 1941 classmate's luncheons every month. She loved to play cards and over the years was a member of several card clubs. Her main passion was reading. Give her a good book and she was happy and content.
Gladys was an active member of St. Joseph's Church. For many years she volunteered there and at the Bell Hospital Gift Shop.
Gladys loved to travel whenever she had the opportunity and liked nothing better than visiting the different cities where her daughter and son-in-law lived.
Gladys is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Michael Tousignant. Also surviving are in-laws Elizabeth Coron, Mary Coron and Clement and Marge Caron, and many loving nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph and brother Frank Lindgren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00am Friday, November 12, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. James Challancin officiating.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, we ask a donation be made in Gladys's name to the Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library. All who know Gladys will understand she'd rather have a good mystery to read than flowers any day.
