Ishpeming - Gert A. Cevigney, age 84, of 411 E. Ridge St. Ishpeming, MI, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility, with his loving family by his side.

Gert was born in Michigamme, on June 1, 1937, a son of the late Mable (Guidebeck) and Louis P. Cevigney, Sr. He was a graduate of Michigamme High School, Class of 1955. Gert owned and operated Gert's IGA in Ishpeming, and then worked as a salesman for Jilbert's Dairy until his retirement at age 62.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a life member of the Ishpeming Elks Lodge. Gert's most precious time was that which was spent with family.  He genuinely loved going to camp, enjoyed traveling, playing cribbage, and will be fondly remembered as one who enjoyed his pipe.

Survivors include two daughters, Sherry (Kim) Goulette; Toni (Paul) Lafreniere both of Ishpeming; two sons, Scott (Lori) Cevigney of Iron Mountain; Steve (Sue Rice) Cevigney of Champion; grandchildren, Sarah (Dave) Wareham, Becky (Doug) Tosa, Jacob (Bianca) Goulette, Tera (Bill) Baker, Jeffrey (Lindy) Martin, Ann Cevigney, Allison Cevigney, Alex (Katt) Beerling, Adam Beerling, Marissa Cevigney, Rachel Cevigney, Tony Delliss, great grandchildren, Lily Bell, Breck Bell, Miles Giotto, Paisely Peterson, Kylie Demars, Hunter Demars, Parker Beerling, Ella Beerling, Quinn Beerling, Carter Beerling, Maeve Irene Martin, along with brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law on the Donato side, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gert was preceded in death by his wife Irene (Donato) Cevigney in 2020, a daughter, Ann Marie Beerling, a grandson, Jason Martin, a brother Louis Cevigney and a sister Margaret Wallace.

A Celebration of Gert's life, sharing of memories and luncheon will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 PM om Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Ishpeming Elk's Lodge, 597 Lakeshore Dr., Ishpeming.

Interment will take place in the spring at Northland Chapel Gardens.
