Marquette- Geraldine L. Maki age 85 a longtime resident of Western Marquette County passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans while in the care of Lake Superior Hospice.
Geraldine was born February 9, 1931 in Hurley, Wisconsin to the late Clayton & Amelia (Hendrickson) Monett. Her family moved to Republic when she was a child and she graduated from Republic High School, class of 1949. Geraldine worked 20 years as a cook for AMCAB at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Champion.
While a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Geraldine taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Geraldine and her husband Allen late moved to Ishpeming where they were members of Bethany Lutheran Church. She was active at Bethany Lutheran Church with the quilters and the WELCA. Geraldine was a wonderful cook and baker and loved knitting and crocheting. Geraldine and Allen loved to dance, especially to Finnish songs.
Geraldine is survived by her husband Allen Maki, whom she married on February 18, 1950, 4 children: Gregory Maki of Champion, Deborah McCarthy of Omaha, NE, Cynthia Weider of Negaunee and David (Tammy) Maki of Hermitage, TN, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters: Mae Yancik, Helen Peterson and Shirley Randall and a brother Wallace Monett.
Funeral services for Geraldine will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Saturday February 20, 2016 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Warren Geier officiating. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
Geraldine's family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church from 1:00pm until the time of service at 2:00pm.
A coffee social will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

Geraldine's family would like to thank her room mate Joyce for her companionship, and the staff at Jacobetti, including Sue, Molina, Julie, Jackie and Nancy for their wonderful care given to Geraldine.
