Ishpeming – Gerald "Jerry" Albertson Sr., age 76 of 1890 Cindy St., Ishpeming Twp. went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2017.  He had been in the loving care of his family and U.P. Home Health and Hospice at the time of his death.

Jerry was born April 7, 1940 in Ishpeming.  He attended the Ishpeming High School, and received his diploma with the Class of 1959 following his service time.  Jerry served in the United States Navy entering at age 17 and served from 1957 – 1961.  He had attended the Skills Center at NMU for 2 years.  Jerry worked at Northland Appliance as a repairman for 30 years until its closure when he moved to Household Appliance for 3 years prior to his retirement.

Jerry was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church where he had ushered for over 30 years, mainly at the Saturday evening Mass.  In recent years, Jerry enjoyed making Rosaries.  Jerry was a handyman and loved woodworking projects. He also looked forward to the fall deer season and sending time at deer camp.  During his retirement years, he and JoAnn took to camping with their 5 ^th -wheel and had wintered in Bullhead City, AZ for several years and in Florida for the past 3 winters.

Survivors include his wife JoAnn M. Albertson of Ishpeming, whom he married Feb 5, 1998, 6 children – Carrie (George) Wolfe of Sparks, NV, Jerry Albertson Jr. of West Bend, WI, Kim Fredin of Cadillac, MI and Tammi (Jeff) Wilkins of Ishpeming, and his step-children – Cindy (Mark) Brugman of Ishpeming and Tom (Marti) Estes of Lindenhurst, IL, sisters – Maxine Sutherland, June Marie Moore, Linda Gwesdalla, Carol Hiller, Betty Jane Campbell, brothers - Harold Albertson and Bill Albertson, 12 grandchildren – Adrian, Landon, Shawntel, Brian, Jessie, Stephanie, Austin, Taylor, Megan, Maxwell, Tony and Steven along with numerous nieces and nephews.  Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife Judy Albertson, his parents Maxwell and Jeannette (LaFave) Sutherland, his biological father Harold Albertson and step-mother June Albertson Zelinski, brother Larry Albertson, and his in-laws Joseph and Irene Giotto.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Dan Moll to officiate.  The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Thursday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Entombment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery Columbarium.
