Negaunee- George D. Young, age 80, longtime area resident, passed away on Monday January 16, 2023 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of his family, and nursing home staff.

George was born October 14, 1942 despite what his headstone reads, to Irving "Bud" and Eileen Young. George was a Negaunee High School, class of 1960 graduate. After graduation he worked for Dobson Plumbing and Heating for a short period of time. In 1962 he married Judith Davis and they shared one son. By this time George was working for CCI where he worked 36 and a half years. In 1972 George married Linda, the thunder to his lightning. Together they had 2 girls, but George would go on to adopt Linda's son. As a team they raised all four children. They shared 49 years together until Linda's passing in 2021.

George was a member of the old timer's league slow pitch baseball, he played for both the VFW and the Junction Club. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch drinking coffee and smoking a smoke, and his daily trip to Super One to visit "His Girls".

George is survived by 3 children- Rodney (Terri) Young, Rick Young, Shelly (Alan) Koski, one brother- Wayne Young, one sister- Cookie (Jack) Brailey, grandchildren- Aubrey Young, Nathan (Beki) Koski, Philip Koski, Elizabeth Koski, Jed Young, Samantha Young, one great granddaughter- Aurora Koski, one great grandson- Arlo Young. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife- Linda, daughter- Keri Miles, granddaughter- Janice Miles, and a sister-in-law- Marlene Young.

Following George's wishes, cremation will take place with no public services. Interment will take place in the Republic Cemetery in the spring.
