Ishpeming – George C. Clark, age 85, of 1120 Highland Circle, #4 passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Marquette General Hospital. He had been in declining health the past 2 years.
George was born January 22, 1929 in Toronto, Canada the son of the late George C. & Elizabeth (Perkins) Clark. He moved to Negaunee, MI at age 3 months and resided in this area since. George was a graduate of the Negaunee High School, Class of 1946 and at age 21 was granted American citizenship. George had resided in Ishpeming Twp from 1973 until 2012. George worked for UPPCO for over 35 years mainly as a journeyman lineman but also as a warehouseman prior to his retirement.
He loved to be around his family, cherishing times spent watching his children's, grandchildren's and great grandchildren's activities and events. He had enjoyed golfing and was a former member at the Wawonowin Country Club and Gentz's Homestead Golf Course. George was always up for a "Car Ride", especially when going to his favorite destinations. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying time at camp, hunting and fishing. George was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years Rosemary Clark of Ishpeming; 4 children – Robert (Peggy) Clark of Ishpeming, Peggy (Mike) Bertucci of Ishpeming, Deborah (Dan) Stoner of Racine, WI and Rebecca (Brian) Olds of Ishpeming; a brother John "Jocko" (Sally) Clark of Ishpeming; 7 grandchildren – Kristie (Al) Patron, Kacey Bertucci, Kimberlee (Bryan) Smith, Cory (Amber) Clark, Kellie Clark, Travis Olds, Connor Olds, 14 great grandchildren, a niece Cathy Clark, and two nephews John and Terry Clark. His mother Elizabeth Sundberg and brother Richard Clark preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Ishpeming with the Rev. Cathy Clark to officiate. The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00noon until 2:00pm on Friday at the Grace Episcopal Church. A dessert social will follow the services in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Grace Episcopal Church Memorial Fund in George's memory.
