Ishpeming- Gail M. Besola, age 80, longtime Ishpeming resident, passed away on Wednesday July 27, 2022 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Gail was born on August 27, 1941 in San Diego, CA to the late Clarence and Florence (Holt) Headly. She attended and graduated from Point Loma High School in San Diego. Following graduation she met and married her husband Lee Besola who was stationed in San Diego while serving in the Navy. Following Lee's honorable discharge Gail and Lee moved to Illinois where they spent two years before moving home to the UP. Gail worked for many years at Marty's News in Negaunee as well as for Bell Telephone.

Gail enjoyed cooking, crafting, her dogs and cat, and living at her cabin south of Ishpeming. She was extremely proud of her family and grandkids and most of all loved spending time with them.

Gail is survived by her husband Lee Besola, son- Jeff (Kris Kontio) Besola, 4 grandchildren- Mathew (Erin) Besola, Melissa (Tony) Darga, Brandon (Kathy) Besola, Nichole (Jon) Nicely, and 6 great grandchildren- Tucker Darga, Cadence Besola, Payton Besola, Evelyn Besola, Harper Nicely, and Maximus Nicely. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Following Gail's wishes cremation will take place with no public services.
