Negaunee, MI- Frank Valenti, age 87, of 311 W. Peck St Negaunee, passed away at 6:40PM on Friday, May 2nd, 2008 at Marquette General Hospital.
Frank was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on October 7, 1920, the son of the late Antonio and Lisa Betha (Carello) Valenti. He honorably served his country during World War II in the United States Army. Frank was a handyman who enjoyed home remodeling, auto mechanics, and his vegetable garden. He also loved playing his guitar and various card games including smear and cribbage. Frank was a life member of the Negaunee VFW. He retired from Robbins Flooring Mill in 1983 where he worked for many years as a boiler operator.
Frank is survived by two daughters, Francine Susan Valenti of Negaunee, Valentina (Arthur "Neil") Olson of New York, a son: Peter A. (Suzanne) Valenti of New York, 4 Grandchildren: Franklin Valenti of New York, Belinda (Jeff) Kessler of Massachusetts, Virginia Olson of Indiana, and Andrew (Beth) Olson of Connecticut, three sisters: Genevieve Valenti of Ishpeming, Cecilia Thompson of California, Rose Johnson of Ishpeming, four brothers: Victor (Charlotte) Valenti of Ishpeming, Salvatore Valenti of Ishpeming, Nicholas (Theresa) Valenti of Ishpeming, Dominic (Cecilia) Valenti of California, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Frank in death are his parents and a sister Katherine Bradford Aho of Tennessee.
Funeral Services will be held at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home at 12:30PM on Tuesday, May 6th, with Fr. James Challancin officiating and a veteran's flag presentation following. The family will greet friends and relatives from 11:30AM until the time of service at 12:30.
A luncheon will follow the funeral service.
A graveside prayer will be said at the Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee Twp. at 3:00PM following the luncheon.
