Ishpeming – Frank M. Salvador, age 69, of 513 N. Maple St., Ishpeming, passed away on Sunday September 13, 2009 at Bell Hospital following a lengthy battle with progressive cervical myelopathy.
Frank was born July 13, 1940 in Ishpeming the son of the late Mario and Irma (Gronvall) Salvador. He was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, Class of 1958 and had attended Michigan Technological University. Frank served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge in August of 1966. He had worked as a Lab Tech at the Northern Automatic Electric Foundry in North Lake Location, retiring in 1993 due to his health.
Frank was a life-member of the Ishpeming V.F.W. and the National Rifle Association, a member of the Ishpeming Elks,and Immanuel Lutheran Church. Frank's hobbies and activities included reading, crossword puzzles, listening to music, traveling, with his favorite destination being Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He also enjoyed motorcycles and cars, especially the corvette he had recently purchased.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years Judy (Ranta) Salvador of Ishpeming, a sister Mary Lou (Bernie) Kinsella of Cheyenne, WY, 2 nieces – Kris (Tom) Beaupre of Duluth, MN and Laurie (Al) Heikkinen of Ishpeming along with several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister Shirley Ann.
Honoring Frank's wishes private funeral services will be held at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
