Ishpeming - Frank Honkala, age 90, of 32975 Co Rd 581 Ishpeming passed May 1, 2020 at his home in Green Creek Location.

Frank was born in Ishpeming on January 7, 1930 son of the late Sophie (Pintamo) and Frank Honkala. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. Frank worked at CCI for 34 1/2 years and then as a Pilot for 17 years retiring at age 70. He was a member of Apostolic Lutheran Church in Ishpeming.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Shirley A. (Koskela) Honkala of Ishpeming; daughter, Ann (Tim) Lequia of Clarksburg; five sons - Calvin (Mary) Honkala of Ishpeming; Keith (Sonja) Honkala of Lantana, FL; Chris Honkala of Ishpeming; Neil (Stacy) Honkala of Hamilton, MT; Scott (Sonja) Honkala of Rindge, NH; daughter-in-law Susan Honkala of Lake Linden; 36 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by a son Dean Honkala, and recently by his great granddaughter Harper A. Lequia along with 4 sisters and 4 brothers.

A private funeral service has been held with interment taking place at Northland Chapel Gardens.
