Ishpeming- Francis M. Tasson, Jr., age 74 longtime Ishpeming resident passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at UP Health System Marquette.  He recently had been a resident at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

Francis was born February 1, 1943 in Marquette to Francis M. Sr. & Rose A. (Nardi) Tasson.  He graduated from St. Paul's High School in Negaunee, class of 1960.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War being stationed in Germany.  Fran worked for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company for 30 years, working at the Pioneer Ore Improvement Plant and retired from the Empire Mine in 1996.

Fran was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. Rocco's, Ishpeming Elks Lodge #447 and the AMVETS.  He was a life member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Fran is survived by an Uncle, Martin (Sue) Tasson of Ishpeming, along with several cousins and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Rose Tasson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 1, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. Larry Van Damme officiating.  Interment will follow at the Ishpeming Cemetery.

Military honors will be accorded by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 380 prior to the Mass.  There will be no visitation.
