Ishpeming, MI - Francis E. Olgren, age 82, longtime North Lake location resident passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

Francis was born in Ishpeming on January 13, 1940, a son of the late Myrtle (Hawke) and Nickanor Olgren. He was a graduate of the Champion High School, Class of 1957. Fran worked for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. for 28 years, first at the Republic Mine as a truck driver, and then at the Empire Mine as a laborer in the filter bay, retiring in 2002.

Fran loved fishing - especially on Lake Superior along with time spent at camp on the Dead River.  He was known for tinkering with small engines and enjoyed watching football and golf on TV.

Survivors include his wife - Janet Olgren of North Lake whom he married on Jan 16, 1960, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic; two daughters, Linda (Terry) Michael of Springfield, MO; Gale (Mark) Henson, of Ishpeming; son Ronald Olgren of Ishpeming; 5 grandchildren - Joanna Smail, Bobbi (Rick) Sansom, Jessica (Jeffrey) Brannon, Nicholas Olgren, Alicia (Drew) Ables; along with 10 great grandchildren - Jackson, Corey, Ally, Ella, Taylor, Trevor, Derrick, Christopher, Jase, Gwen. He was preceded in death by a brother Donald Olgren, and a grandson Joseph Henson.

Per Fran's wishes, cremation will take place with a private graveside interment to take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
