Ishpeming – Florence D. "Flossie" Houseman, age 70, of 29241 Co. Rd. 581 in Ely Twp. passed away at 3:55pm on Saturday July 2, 2011 at the Marquette General Hospital.
"Flossie" was born October 21, 1940 in Ishpeming the daughter of Viola (Olgren) and the late William Langson. She spent her childhood years in Negaunee and was a member of the St. John's Episcopal Church in Negaunee. Flossie married Frank Houseman and together they raised 4 children. She enjoyed playing BINGO, and was ready and willing to play at a moments notice. In her younger years Flossie enjoyed horseback riding, most notably with the Trailriders Club, snowmobiling with members of the Riverside Club, and spending countless summers camping at the Sawyer Lake Resort where she enjoyed the camaraderie with other campers. Flossie had an artistic side, always knitting or crocheting something new. She was an avid Precious Moments collector until she ran out of room for them.
Survivors include her mother Viola Langson of Negaunee, 3 sons – Ted (Diane) Houseman, Terry (Sheila) Houseman and Frank Houseman all of Ishpeming, a daughter Denise "Dee" (Tuner) Johnson of Ishpeming, a brother Bill (Elta) Langson of Negaunee, 6 sisters – Carol Joki of Humboldt, Viola (Ray) Liubakka of Negaunee, Corrine "Corky" Hillis of Negaunee, Arlene (Ben) Thexton of Ishpeming, Lois Hill of Ishpeming, Sally (Earl) McNally of Escanaba, brother-in-law – Joseph Houseman of Ishpeming, Sister-in-law Barbara Langson of Ishpeming, 6 grandchildren – Stephanie (Robert) Lake, Justin Houseman, Brian Bureau, Ryan Johnson, Ronda Johnson and Dylan Herron, along with numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank on June 20, 2004, a grandson Cory Houseman, a brother Fred Langson, a sister Eunice Hebert and a sister-in-law – Joyce Feldbauer.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 1 – 3pm on Wednesday July 6, 2011 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm on Wednesday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Jarvis to officiate. A luncheon will follow at St. John's Episcopal Church in Negaunee. Interment will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens in Negaunee Twp.
