Obituary

Ishpeming- Fern Ann (Corneliuson) Liedtke, age 94 passed away peacefully at her son's home on Sunday, December 08, 2013 while in the loving care of her son and caretaker Bob "Corny", daughter Mary and Lake Superior Hospice. Fern was born October 30, 1919 in Sturgeon Bay, WI to Ernest & Elsie (Voight) Boes. She grew up in Escanaba-Wells, Michigan, graduating from high school at the age of 17. Fern lived a life of service to others. She was employed by the State of Michigan Department of Social Services, retiring in 1982 after 34 years. She worked in the cities of Iron River, Iron Mountain, Marquette and Ishpeming. She was a volunteer with the Negaunee Thrift Store and the Marquette County Humane Society. Fern would take the discarded clothes form the thrift shop, cut the buttons off so the puppies and kittens wouldn't choke on them, and pass them on to the humane society. She was a member of the Mission Covenant Church in Ishpeming. Fern is survived by her son Bob "Corny" Corneliuson of Ishpeming, a daughter, Mary Goedhart of Rochester, MN 5 grandchildren: Taylor (Stephanie) Bietila of West Allis, WI, Allison Goedhart of Gurnee, IL, Jared Goedhart of Vermillion, SD, Kamaria Goedhart of Rochester, MN and Zack Goedhart of Rochester, MN, nephews John (Lorna) Boes, and Tony Corneliuson, niece Janet Roshak and special friend Tonya Stansbury.. Fern was preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley Corneliuson, second husband, Robert Liedtke, son in law Larry Goedhart, a sister Marbey Petrie and a brother Dale Boes. Funeral services for Fern will be held 11:00am Wednesday, December 11th at the Mission Covenant Church, 2nd St. Ishpeming with Rev. Karen Hinz officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Pallbearers will be Charlie Suardini, Larry Duquette, Kevin Flynn and Bob Asikainen. Memorial considerations may be directed to Mission Covenant Church or UPAWS in memory of Fern.
