Ishpeming – Faye A. Maki, age 74, of 340 Carp St., Ishpeming left her earthly home Tuesday, January 5, 2016 to be with her husband LeRoy who had preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 2015. She had been a patient at UP Health System – Bell in Ishpeming for the past day.
Faye was born March 29, 1941 in LaGrange, GA the daughter of Jerry and Dorsey Whitlock. She met LeRoy Maki during his service time in the United States Navy and they married on April 7, 1962 in Ishpeming. Faye served as the homemaker to her husband and family of three girls as they grew up in Ishpeming.
Faye was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. She enjoyed her computer and the games she could play on it along with knitting and cheering for any sports team from Carolina. Most of all Faye loved to be with LeRoy and was heartbroken until being reunited with him upon her death.
Faye is survived by: three daughters – Susan (Larry) McCarthy of Gwinn, MI, Wanda (John G.) Meier III of Manassa, VA and Rebecca (Eric) Douglass of Palm Harbor, FL; 4 grandchildren – Casey, Joshua and Erica Douglass and Elizabeth McCarthy; three great grandchildren – Tinsley, Aurora and Beau Douglass. She also leaves behind her 2 brothers – Leon (Ann) Whitlock, Jerry Wayne Whitlock and a sister Joyce (Jerry) Curtis all of North Carolina; 2 brothers-in-law - Raymond Maki of Bergland and Michael Maki of Ishpeming and sister-in-law Jane Maki of Ishpeming.
Per Faye's family wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
