Obituary

Ishpeming – Fay Sondra (Swahn) Tasson, age 70, of 1490 Hickory St., Ishpeming passed away peacefully at 11:35am on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Marquette General Hospital with her loving family by her side.


Fay was born March 5, 1942 the daughter of the late Carl and Helen (Doney) Swahn. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1960. She married Jim Tasson on March 3, 1962 and together they raised 7 children. Fay received her nursing degree from Northern Michigan University and went on to be an OB nurse at Bell Memorial Hospital for 20 years. After her retirement she enjoyed working part-time for U.P. Home Health and Hospice. She was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. Fay was a proud member and past board member of Superiorland Emmaus. Family and friends will remember Fay as a wonderful cook and a great listener. She was deeply devoted to her family and was such a hard-working, loving, and giving person. She loved all of her children unconditionally and her grandchildren were the light of her life.


Fay was always known to put others before herself and was loved by so many. She recently enjoyed celebrating her 50th Wedding Anniversary and 70th Birthday with family and friends. She was deeply admired and loved by her husband, Jim.


Survivors include her husband Jim of Ishpeming, seven children: Steven (Sheri) Tasson of Cooper City, FL, Kevin Tasson of Ishpeming, Amy Tasson of Neenah, WI, Craig (Patty) Tasson of Ishpeming, Jana (Steve) Niemi of Appleton, WI, Dara (Gene) Flink of DePere, WI, and Jason (special friend Chelsea) Tasson of Lower Michigan. Grandchildren: Mark, Mary and Kirk Tasson, Bryce Paulsen, Sondra Fay Vickstrom, Melissa and Samantha Gardner, Chanler and Chase Niemi, Christian and Giovanna Flink, along with great grandchild Tayla Keller. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Chet.


The family will greet relatives and friends from 2 until 5pm on Sunday March 11, 2012 at the Wesley United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 5:00pm on Sunday at the Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Lindenberg to officiate. A luncheon will follow the services in the church hall.


Pallbearers will be Fay's grandsons.
