Ishpeming – Faith "Tootsie" Magdalene Prophet, age 68, of Ishpeming, MI died on February 23, 2010 in the loving care of family and Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice following several months struggle with cancer. She was a resident of the Mather Nursing Center since September 2009.


Faith was born July 10, 1941 in Ishpeming, MI. She was the daughter of the late Julia (Honkala) Prophet and the late Thomas Prophet.


Faith graduated from National Mine High School in 1959. She moved to Minneapolis and then to Florida returning to Michigan in 1984. She was a member of the Ishpeming Laestadian Lutheran Church.


Faith is survived by her brother Thomas Prophet of Humboldt, two sisters – Barbara Plough of Evans, WA, and Phea Anderson of St. Paul, MN, 15 nieces and nephews, 45 great nieces and nephews, an uncle Frank (Shirley) Honkala of Ishpeming, an aunt Katherine Honkala of Ishpeming, along with numerous cousins and friends.


The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00am until 12:00noon on Saturday Feb. 27, 2010 at the Laestadian Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday at the Laestadian Lutheran Church with Peter Kuopus to officiate. Interment will take place at the Humboldt Twp. Cemetery in the spring.


Pallbearers will be James, John & Jeff Prophet, Mike and Tom Kuopus & Alan Wikman.
