Ishpeming- Evelyn Nadeau, age 92 of 433 W. Empire St. Ishpeming passed away peacefully on Monday, October 06, 2014 at her home while in the loving comfort of her family and UP Home Health & Hospice.
Anna Evelyn was born August 11, 1922 in Ishpeming to Ulrick & Lyda (Johnson) Ulrickson. Evelyn graduated from Ishpeming High School, class of 1940. She worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell and worked for the U.S. Census Bureau, but her most important job was successfully raising her six children and being a loving wife to her husband Marvin for 66 years.
Evelyn was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, where she was active in many capacities, including Social Ministry, WELCA, the choir, Martha Circle, and the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was also a member of Michigan Bells. Evelyn and Marvin traveled to 44 States and especially enjoyed visiting Presidential sites. Reading, knitting, biking, baking, camping, working on crossword puzzles and writing poetry were some of Evelyn's favorite hobbies. People marveled at her excellent memory. Though she was old in years, Evelyn was a young thinker. A proud mother of six children, she took pleasure in caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evelyn was an avid Hematite, Tigers, and Packers fan.
Evelyn is survived by 6 children: Susanne (Paul) Puder of Hoffman Estates, IL, Paul (Emily) Nadeau of Peachtree City, GA, Carol (Ken) Carlson of Menominee, MI, Linda Dahl of Ishpeming, Robert Nadeau of Ishpeming and Debra (Peter) Cain of Ishpeming; 11 grandchildren: Kirsten (Gene) Morgan, Michelle Reilly, Heather Puder, Tracy (fiancé Matt Francis)Nadeau, Timothy (Sarah) Nadeau, Peter (Emily Ann) Nadeau, Ryan (Joy) Carlson, Sara (Tyler) Alford, Addy (Joe) Lemire, Winter (Dan) Bailey, & Lindsey (Jay) Piercefield; 11 great- grandchildren: Natalie (Toby) Moseler, Jason Morgan, Jimmy Reilly, Alaina Nadeau, Addison Nadeau, David Paul Nadeau, Anders Nadeau, Isaac Carlson, Adam Carlson, Faith Cain, and Peter (P.J.) Lemire; 1 great- great-grandson Aiden Moseler, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, 2 brothers George & William Ulrickson, son-in-law Karl Dahl and nephews Peter Ulrickson and Gerald Nadeau.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming with Rev. Warren Geier officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Friends may call at Bethany on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon.
Memorials may be given to Bethany Lutheran Church in memory of Evelyn.
