St. Louis Park, MN – Eva Salminen, age 89, former Ishpeming resident passed away on Wednesday August 12, 2009 at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN.

Eva was born on August 17, 1919 the daughter of the late Heikki and Selma (Severikangas) Karppinen in Kemijarvi, Finland.

Eva is survived by daughters: Melba (Ronald) Simonson of Plymouth, MN, Maria Salminen of Waukegan, IL, Sara (Billie) Davis of Newton, TX, Carol Salminen of New Hope, MN, Eva Christine (Steven) Stockton of Savanna, IL, Ruth (Martin) Mueller of Antioch, IL, sons: Martin Salminen of Waukegan, IL, Roy (Sherry) Salminen of Brooklyn Park, MN, George Peter (Cynthia) Salminen of Waukegan, IL, and Richard Salminen of Twin Lakes, WI, 40 Grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1973, a daughter Rebecca Lee Salminen, granddaughters Marissa Mueller and Christina Stockton, great granddaughters Kristen Pritchard and Darci Marks, a brother Niilo Korkalainen and her foster parents: Eli & Edla Hedeniemi

A graveside service will be held at the Ishpeming Cemetery on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 10:00AM. Funeral services are being held in Minnesota.
