Ethelwyn Rae Martello
Marquette – Wyn passed away Monday January 25, 2010 at Mather Nursing Center after a brief illness, she had resided at the Brookridge Assisted Living Facility for the past year. She was 74. She is survived by her four children: Marty Martello of Marquette, Lisa Hayward of Janesville, WI, Andrew Martello of Las Vegas, NV, and Matthew Martello of Pinckney, MI. She is also survived by six grandchildren, two half-sisters and one half-brother. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Martello, her parents and one half-brother.
Wyn was born November 26, 1935 in New York. She graduated from College Corner, In High School and attended Miami University in Oxford, OH where she also worked as a secretary. Wyn worked in various secretarial jobs and as a church choir director over the years. She was a woman of strong opinions and was active in liberal political causes. She was a member of the Marquette Unitarian Universalist Congregation, several members of which were present at her passing.
As per her wishes, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in her name. Any other remembrances may be sent c/o Marty Martello, 2127 Wilkinson Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855-1737.
