Obituary

Ishpeming- Esther Elizabeth Tasson, age 103 of 517 N. Pine St. Ishpeming passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at her daughter's home under the care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Esther was born November 18, 1907 in Iron Mountain to Joseph & Concetta (Tudesco) Conte. Her family moved to the Ishpeming area when she was a young child and she has lived there ever since. She married Louis P. Tasson in 1925. Esther worked as a seamstress at the H.W. Gossard Company in the 1930's. Her family and her faith were the most important things in her life. She loved cooking, crocheting, knitting, playing cards and spending many summers at the Nip 'N Tuck cottage on Mehl Lake. When asked at her 100th birthday what she thought was the secret to her longevity, she answered "family who keep her young and good cooking".

Esther was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Paisano's Club.

Esther is survived by two children: Evelyn Jean Bertucci of Ishpeming and Michael L. (Joan) Tasson of Marquette. six grandchildren: Paul (Susan) Tasson of Houston, TX, Mark (Rose) Tasson of Marquette, Barbara Tasson (Mike Gentz) .of Marquette, Kathleen (Larry) Hart of Gwinn, Michael (Susan) Polini of Virginia Beach, VA and Susan (Jim) Gauthier of Ishpeming, 15 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her adopted daughter Mary Trolla of Negaunee. Esther was preceded in death by her husband Louis P. Tasson in 1989, a daughter Betty Lou Polini in 2003, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated 11:00am Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ishpeming with Fr. Greg Heikkala and Msgr. Peter Oberto officiating. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday at St. Johns Catholic Church from 10:00am until the time of service at 11:00am.

Pallbearers will be James Gauthier, Paul Tasson, Mark Tasson, Bradley Gauthier, Kohl Nelson and Larry Hart.
