Ishpeming – Esther A. Robinson, age 88, of 2110 Washington Ave., Ishpeming passed away on Monday April 18, 2011 at the Marquette General Hospital where she had been admitted the previous day.


Esther was born August 17, 1922 in Ishpeming the daughter of the late John and Liisa Josephine (Plukka) Wuorenmaa. After graduation from Ishpeming High School, Esther moved to Detroit and worked for the Aetna Insurance Co. She returned to Ishpeming, residing here for the past 60+ years. Esther was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Salvation Army.


Survivors include her children – Lynn (Bob Hopfensperger) Anderson of Sun City Center, FL, Louise (Phillip Schaeffer) Anderson of Marquette, Jon (Ann) Anderson of Duluth, MN and Jane (Dale) Honeycutt of Redlands, CA, 7 grandchildren – Jennifer, Andy, Ali, Kaleb, Jason, Ben and David, a great grandchild Riley, a sister Elizabeth (Frank) Buytaert of Ishpeming, a brother Paul (Audrey) Wuorenmaa of Ishpeming, a sister-in-law – Lorraine (Lawrence) Haack of Escanaba, several nieces and nephews, along with her Pen Pal since World War II, Noreen May of London, England. She was preceded in death by her first husband Arnold Anderson in 1962 and her second husband Ralph Robinson in 2002 along with several brothers and sisters.


The family will greet relatives and friends from 10 until 11am on Thursday April 21, 2011 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am on Thursday with the Rev. Warren Geier to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the services in the church hall.


Pallbearers will be Esther's grandchildren.
