Ishpeming – Esther Mustonen, age 92, longtime North Lake resident passed away on Monday February 13, 2017 at the Marquette Co. Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had been a resident since October of 2013.

Esther was born June 7, 1924 in North Lake the daughter of the late John and Hilma (Ruhkala) Koski and was a lifelong area resident. She and her late husband Arne Mustonen raised their family in North Lake, with Esther as a homemaker. She had also worked at the H W Gossard Co. as a seamstress in her younger years. Esther was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, the Eastern Star and the Kaleva Lodge. Esther enjoyed cooking and baking. She and Arne spent time camping and had wintered in Alabama, Arizona, Florida and Texas during their retirement years.

Survivors include, daughter, Diane (Doug) Collar of Ishpeming, daughter-in-law Lois Mustonen of National Mine, brother William Koski of Ishpeming, 5 grandchildren – Tracy (Mark) Patenaude, Christopher Mustonen, Derek Collar, Jason (Bobbi Sue) and Jeff Roeder, 6 great grandchildren – Mark M. Patenaude, Stephanie Mustonen, Breanna Mustonen, Canyon, Chase and Joey Roeder, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Arne Mustonen, son John Mustonen and sister Tyne Pope.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 11am – 12 noon on Wednesday February 15, 2017 at the Bethel Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon on Wednesday at the Bethel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. Interment will take place at the
Ishpeming Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the services in the Church Hall.

Memorials may be directed to the Bethel Lutheran Church, 333 E. Ridge St., Ishpeming, MI 49849 in memory of Esther.
