Ishpeming – Esther L. (Linna) Corrette, age 81, of 135 N. Lilac St. Ishpeming Twp. passed away on Saturday July 14, 2007 at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming Twp. while surrounded by her family.


Esther was born October 23, 1925 in Ishpeming the daughter of Emil and Ida (Kallejarvi) Linna. She was a graduate of the Ishpeming High School, Class of 1943. She went on to work at the H.W. Gossard Co. as a seamstress, and then for the Michigan Bell Telephone Co. as an operator. Esther attended Northern Michigan University and received her degree as a LPN. She then worked as a LPN at the Bell Memorial Hospital and went on to work for the Community Schools as an instructor in nursing, retiring in 1982.


Esther was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. She will be remembered as a fabulous homemaker and caretaker, enjoying bowling and sewing in her younger years.


Survivors include her husband Isaac Andrew Corrette of Ishpeming, whom she married on October 2, 1948; a daughter Sheree (Lou) Gembolis of Ishpeming; grandchildren – Jennifer Nicholas, Sarah (Matt) Kanitz, and Jessica (Lee) Hartman; great grandchildren – William Lee Hartman IV and Benjamin Louis Hartman; nieces and nephews – Sue (Gene) Rudolph, Bill (Deb) Mattson, Sandy Mattson, Sheryl (Ray) Lindstrom, Claire Linna, Ron Linna, Nick Chetto, Fran Chetto, and Michael Chetto; along with several great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters – Sylvia Chetto and Jennie Koski Gustafson; and 3 brothers – Carlo, Waino and Emil Linna.


Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday July 17, 2007 at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home with the Rev. Lauri O. Maki to officiate. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.


The family will greet friends and relatives from 10:00am until the time of services on Tuesday at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home.
