Republic – Emily A. Kellow, age 89, former Republic resident passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at Bell Hospital where she has been a patient for the last week.
For the past few years, Emily has resided at the Marquette Medical Care Facility. Emily was born February 2, 1918 to the late Wilfred and Clements (LaPointe) Vizena in Negaunee.

Emily was a life long area resident except for taking some time away in the chilly U.P. winters to reside in Florida. She was a graduate of Negaunee High School and worked as a cook at Northern Michigan University. She also spent some time working for H.W. Gossard. Emily was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic.

Survivors include four children: James Kellow of Marquette, Julie (Chuck) Boswell of Plant City, Florida, Harold "Joe" (Carol) Kellow of Republic, Steven (Mary) Kellow of Republic, five sisters: Jeanette Mainville of Detroit, Margaret Mitchell of Negaunee, Joyce Jeffrey of Detroit, Bernice Scharf of Detroit, Nancy Finnila of Negaunee, and Robert "Crow" (Louise) Vizena of Negaunee, 20 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandson, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Emily is preceded in death by her husband Harold, a brother Wilfred "Poly" Vizena and a grandson Nicholas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2007 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Republic with Fr. James Challancin.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday, August 31, from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. at the Bjork & Zhulkie Funeral Home where a parish wake service will be held at 7:00p.m and on Saturday from 10:00a.m. until the time of services at 11:00a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be Emily's grandchildren.
